OUTREACH

As part of Hazlett-Kincaid's continuing effort to give back to the community, we have worked hand-in-hand with the Reading Public Museum to develop and implement the Awesome Aquifer Adventure. This interactive, multimedia exhibit which highlights various aspects of groundwater was located in the main atrium of Reading Museum for a sixth month stay ending March 24, 2002. The exhibit is comprised of informative posters enhanced with full-color computer generated graphics, hand samples of aquifer materials, "tools of the trade," a video of divers exploring underwater caves, and a groundwater simulator model. All of these portions of the exhibit are tied together with an activity that challenges visitors to use their new hydrogeologic knowledge to complete a series of tasks revolving around a make believe gasoline spill. Visitors can then check their results using a Flash animated game which provides additional information.

It is the hope of Hazlett-Kincaid, Inc. that this exhibit can travel to other museums, learning centers, visitor centers, and schools in order to enlighten as many minds as possible. Please contact us if you would like to receive a free CD-ROM that displays the full exhibit. We would be happy to discuss finding a way to implement the Awesome Aquifer Adventure at your institution.
